Project Overview
For my final project, I designed and developed a professional portfolio website for Max Kim, a student photographer based in Athens. While Max utilized social media and a separate platform for client photo distribution, he lacked a centralized space to showcase his professional portfolio. This project aimed to address this gap by creating a website that combines Max’s personal and professional photography, highlighting his work while maintaining a client-friendly structure.
Max Kim, a professional photographer, lacked a dedicated platform to showcase his artistic vision and professional services. While he used social media for advertising and a separate site for client photo distribution, there was no central space for scouts, sponsors, or potential clients to explore his portfolio or book his services. The ultimate goal was to boost Max’s professional visibility and streamline his interactions with clients. This website bridges that gap by highlighting his artistic vision, services, and pricing, blending his personal and professional work into a business-focused structure.
The Problem
To solve this problem, I designed and developed a WordPress website tailored to Max’s needs, balancing aesthetics and functionality. I began by collaborating closely with Max to understand his vision and goals, ensuring that the website aligned with his artistic style and business objectives. Prioritizing a minimalist design, I used black-and-white tones with subtle color accents to keep the focus on his photography.
Technically, I relied on WordPress’s Gutenberg editor instead of Elementor due to compatibility issues, using custom CSS to achieve desired animations and hover effects. I integrated features like:

Calendly Integration: Enabled seamless client bookings via EmbedPress.

Custom Fonts: Incorporated Tinos to align with Max’s brand.

Subtle Animations: Used CSS to add an interactive but understated dynamic.

Image Selection: Worked with Max to curate a portfolio that captures his artistic style and professional expertise.
The Solution
Results
The final website successfully met its objectives, providing Max with a refined platform to showcase his work and attract new clients & scouts. I has taught me the inner workings of Wordpress. Key successes include a learning how to use blocks more creatively, intuitive navigation throughout the website, and a visually appealing design that reflects Max’s brand. Through this project, I enhanced my WordPress and CSS skills, learned effective client communication, and developed a deeper understanding of balancing creative expression with practical functionality.
